前回に引き続き、Cambridge English Readersの初中級～中級レベル（Level3～Level4）で使われている文法について、まとめていきます。

Graded Readersについては、こちら↓
Graded Readersはレベルごとに、使用する単語や文法に制限をかけて本を書いています。
Cambridge English Readersは、各レベルで使われている文法について、出版社のカタログやホームページに書かれていなかったので調べました。

初中級レベル LEVEL 3 の文法
１冊の平均的な語数： 15000
CEFR（セファール）： B1
ＹＬ（読みやすさレベル）： 3
このレベルで追加された文法は、次の通りです。
Present perfect continuous What have you been doing?
Past perfect She had driven from London.
‘used to’ They used to go to Greece.
Simple passive The bag was found three days later.
Modals: need, should, may, ought, might
Main clause + 2 subordinate clauses
The bullet cut through the coat but didn’t hit Chapman, who shot at the same time.Noun + 3 adjectives a lovely blue silk scarf
1st conditional If I go this morning, I’ll come back straight after the meeting.
2nd conditional I would come if you wanted.Indirect speech (more complex including wh-questions and if)

上のものをざっくり日本語でまとめると、こうなります。
- 現在完了進行形
- 過去完了
- used to ～ （昔はよく～したものだ）
- 受け身
- 助動詞（need、should、may、ought、might）
- 主節＋従属節２つの文
- 名詞の前に形容詞が３つある文（名詞を具体的に描写する）
- 仮定法 1st conditional（起こる可能性ありの「もし〇〇なら、××する）
- 仮定法 2nd conditional（起こる可能性ほぼ無しの「もし〇〇だったら、××するだろう）
- 間接話法（WH疑問文やＩＦが混ざった文）
中級レベル LEVEL 4 の文法
１冊の平均的な語数： 20000
CEFR（セファール）： B1+
ＹＬ（読みやすさレベル）： 4
このレベルで追加された文法は、次の通りです。
Past perfect continuous They had been driving for six hours.
‘was/were going to’ I was going to tell you.
Passive: modals It couldn’t have been taken away.
Passive: continuous The match is being played today.
Present perfect passive It has been eaten.
Past perfect passive It had been eaten.
3rd conditional I wouldn’t have told him if I’d known.Main clause + 3 subordinate clauses
She lay there for a while thinking about him and wondering how much today would change their lives.Non-defining relative clauses
Gary, who worked with Tristan, was waiting by the boat.Causative ‘have’ I’ll have that fixed.

上のものをざっくり日本語でまとめると、こうなります。
- 過去完了進行形
- ～するつもりだった（けどしなかった）をあらわすwas going to ～
- 助動詞と一緒に使う受け身
- 受け身の現在進行形（～され続けている）
- 受け身の現在完了
- 受け身の過去完了
- 仮定法 3rd conditional（過去の後悔、起こった過去とは違うことを考える時に使う「もし〇〇だったら、きっと××していただろうに...）
- 主節＋従属節３つの文
- １つの文の中に「,」などで区切って情報を足す、非限定関係詞節
- 使役動詞（have）
- 間接話法（過去完了）
まとめ
今日は、Cambridge English Readersの初中級から中級レベルで使われている文法を、まとめました。
前回の初級レベルに比べて、どんどん文法のレベルが上がっていますね。
文法のレベルが上がれば上がるほど、描写がより具体的になって、物語に深みが出てきます。
なので、レベル３以降は、読みごたえがかなり出てきます。
